Artist Statement

I see myself primarily as a facilitator of the arts. I believe that self-expression through a variety of art media can foster self-esteem, awareness of oneself and others with the power to initiate positive and creative thought. My desire is to enrich the lives of those I know and work with by presenting them with opportunities to be nourished by the arts and help them to make valuable connections with those on a similar journey.

Pieces of my own artwork were created with the intent of being touched. I explore my interest in visual imagery through mixed media including pastel, paint, hand- made papers and photography. Working as a collage artist, I draw ideas from a variety of sources such as a feeling, an emotion or a concept or simply from images that appeal. I work with fluid, gestural movements and enjoy the dynamics of color, movement and texture.

More recent pieces display a new technique using a heat tool to create tactile imagery.
